WupFire
A real-time fire-control and intercept solution module for gun-based air defense.
Reversing the cost asymmetry
Small, low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles are being countered with missiles that cost many times more than the threat itself. Gun-based systems can answer this threat at a far lower cost — but hitting a moving, manoeuvring target requires a firing solution produced in well under a second.
WupFire combines the physical accuracy of the WupBallistic core with this timing constraint: the firing table is computed in advance, and at the moment of engagement only a table sweep is performed. Solution time therefore drops to the order of milliseconds.
From Target to Firing Order
WupFire is designed to receive detection and tracking data from external systems; it produces the solution internally and passes it to the effector.
Target Data
The target position, altitude, speed and course are fed to the module through the data stream from the detection and tracking system.
Intercept Point Prediction
The encounter point is solved by matching the target future position with the projectile time of flight.
Barrel Angles
Elevation and azimuth angles are produced with the meteorological conditions at the moment of fire included.
Engagement & Visualization
The solution is passed to the effector; the engagement can be monitored in 3D, optionally through a mixed reality interface.
Designed for Field Conditions
Millisecond-Order Solution
Thanks to the pre-computed firing table, no heavy numerical solve is run at the moment of engagement.
Offline Capable
Designed to run without an external network connection; tables and ammunition profiles are held locally.
License-Independent Core
The ballistic computation layer is entirely proprietary and not tied to any third-party library license.
Open to System Integration
Can be connected to existing fire-control and command-and-control infrastructures through a C-compatible interface.
Validated Ballistic Foundation
The ballistic model underlying the solution has been validated by comparison against real firing test data.
Scalable to Swarm Scenarios
The table-based approach is structured to allow multiple targets to be solved in sequence.
Applications Beyond Defense
Engineering Test
Numerical verification prior to field testing in weapon and ammunition qualification processes.
Training & Simulation
Supporting operator training and exercise scenarios with real physics.
Public Safety
Analysis of unauthorized aerial vehicle scenarios in critical facility and event security.
